Pokemon Adventures, Volume 3: Starmie Surprise (Pok mon Adventures) Each volume of the best-selling Pokmon comic series features three of the 150 lovable Pokmon in stories that cannot be found in the popular television series. This installation shines a spotlight on Starmie. When the trainer journeys to Cerulean City he is surprised to see a familiar-looking Pokmon gym leader! Will he win the Cascade Badge? Customer Review: It’s Misty of Cerulean City! In this issue of Pokemon Adventures, Red and Misty travel through Mt. Moon, but on the way they run into Team Rocket, a strange organization who’s bent on capturing other people’s Pokemon. After that, Red and Misty arrive at Cerulean City, where Misty lives. Apparantly she lives in a huge mansion, and has a whole bunch of maids which Red falls instantly in love with. Unfortunately for him, he gets on Misty’s bad side and causes her to challenge him, unexpectedly, to a Gym Battle. Soonafter, Red ventures off further into the Pokemon world, and runs into a freakish looking half-Pokemon half-human that calls itself ‘Bill’. If you enjoyed the game, you should really get this issue of Pokemon Adventures, because you’ll probably enjoy this as well. Customer Review: MATO’s Magic. I LOVE this ENTIRE series. MORE than the series, MORE than the Manga, MORE than the game. The artwork was inspiring & the graphics get better & better each issue.

Pokemon Adventures, Volume 2: Wanted Pikachu (Pok mon Adventures) The most popular Pokmon character - Pikachu - was the subject of the first Pokmon comic miniseries. In this story, the human trainer journeys to Pewter City, where a Pokmon is wanted for vandalism. Can our hero catch (as well as make friends with) the electrical Pikachu? Customer Review: Based more on the game than the anime… In this issue of Pokemon Adventures, Red arrives in Pewter City, only to find a Pikachu who’s stirring up quite a bit of trouble. Luckily, by using his Bulbasaur, Red captures the Pikachu. Soonafter he runs into Gary, who challenges him to a contest to see who can defeat Brock, the Pewter City Gym Leader, first. And we also get to see the first appearance of everyone’s favorite(or hated, your choice) feisty red-head, Misty! Red comes to the rescue as Misty is being attacked by an out-of-control Gyarados, and soon they band together on their journey. The Pokemon Adventures manga is based heavily on the Pokemon RPG videogame, so there’s alot of similarities here. You should buy this if you’re a fan of the game, or Pokemon in general. Customer Review: Reader from America This book is great!red walks into pewter city and sees a wanted sign of Pikachu, who is messing up there town. So then Red decides to help and trys capturing the wanted Pikachu……. Then Gary comes and Challenges Ash the Challenge is Who will get the Boulder badge from Brock……. From ages 7-11 this book tells of a mysterious Pokemon called Celebi. One day the Pokemon vanishes. Ash, Pikachu, Misty, Brock, and Sammy race to save Celebi before the Team Rocket and the new bad guy gets the powerful Pokemon first. Not a very thick book, with only 60 pages. Pokemon Tales, Volume 9: Meet Mew! (Pok mon Tales) Mew is the rarest and most mysterious Pokemon of all. In this book, a boy sees Mew, but no one believes him. Touched by the boy’s sadness, Mew hatches a plan to turn the skeptics into believers. Customer Review: Beautiful Another beatufully illustrated pokemon book. You just can’t beat the drawings in these. Customer Review: Very clever! In this book, the author found a very clever way to explain why people hardly ever see Mew. It turns out there’s a whole group of Mews living in the heavens, but they have one cardinal rule: Don’t show yourself to a human unless you have a good reason! However, one Mew who’s shown himself to kids lots of times has a dilemma when a kid he’s recently shown himself to is ridiculed by his friends when he says he saw a Mew. However, the other Mews realize that sometimes it’s more important to help a friend than obey the rules, and they come up with a plan to help the little boy.

Pokemon Adventures: Legendary Pokemon, Vol. 2 Team Rocket is out to get Green, and the heroes rush to her defense. But when they find out their new ally has stolen something valuable from Team Rocket, they must teach her why a true Pokemon trainer doesn’t steal - even from bad guys. Next, Erika sends Red out to find Eevee. Red’s got some new high-tech devices thanks to Bill, Professor Oak’s rival, but will they protect him from the angry Nidoking he encounters in the Safari Zone? Customer Review: Totally Awesome! This is a reeeeeeeeeeeeely neat book. DEFINITLY better than the tv show, little more violent and serious and goofyish and cute all at the same time. It introduces another character who is the water starter trainer (though admittedly, she stole it) and Bill, a hillbillyish researcher (ironicly, both are scared of birds). It ends a little open ended but it’s good nonetheless. In case you want to know what pokemon’s artwork are in it they are: Bulbasaur, ivysaur,Poliwhirl, pikachu, pinsir, charmeleon, charmander, squirtle, wartortle, snorlax, half of mewtwo, rhydon, hitmonlee, gravelar, machamp, tauros, ditto, jigglypuff, mew, jynx, porygon, marowak, golduck, machoke, pidgeot, scyther, diglett, krabby, ninetales, tangela, eevee, vileplume, drowzee, jolteon, vaporeon, flareon, bellsprout, kadabra, nidoking, nidoqueen, victreebell, weepinbell, parasect, eggsecute, sandshrew, magmar, cloyster, dragonite, gyarados, starmie, articuno, muk, gengar, arcanine, rapidash, moltres, areodactyl, zapdos, charizard. Customer Review: Pokemon does it again! Pokemon always amazes me, and it always will. This manga amazed me in ways beyond belief. Unlike the anime, this manga is based off the video games. To be specific, it is based off of Pokemon Red, Pokemon Green (a.k.a. Pokemon Blue in America), and Pokemon Blue (Japan-only). The main character is Red, based off the main character of the game. His rival is Green (a.k.a. Blue in America). He was based off the rival in the game. Then, we meet a cute, yet cunning, girl name Blue (a.k.a. Green in America), who was an original character. She was used as the female character years later in Pokemon Fire Red and Pokemon Leaf Green. This manga is not something you’d expect little kids to read. It goes beyond the “kiddy” image, targeting towards young teens. The blend of the storyline from the game, plus original ideas, make this a great novel. That, and I can’t get enough of Bill’s accent. If you like Pokemon, this is the manga for you!

Well written book that will either take you through step by step or give you a nudge in the correct direction for if you are not sure what is the right way. Easy to read and very helpful. Customer Review: Prima Guide Prima’s guide for Pokemon Colosseum isn’t nearly as good as the other guides. However it does give tips on the pokemon trainers you have to battle. What level they are at, type, and prize money. Which you don’t get from Nintendo’s guide. If just the tip on the pokemon trainers this guide is good, but for everything else Nintendo’s walkthrough is alot better.

Pokemon Adventures, Volume 1: Mysterious Mew (Pok mon Adventures) Mew, one of the “New Species” Pokmon, is an innocent-looking catlike character - the super-rare 151st Pokmon. This story introduces the trainer, Pokmon expert Professor Oak, Professor Oak’s nephew, and others, who try to capture all the Pokmon to complete the collection - and win a series of duels against other Pokmon trainers. Customer Review: Manga-riffic! It’s always good to see a differant take on the beginnings of the pokemon phenomenon, and this manga is no exection. It more closely follows the game rather than the anime, and somehow, this improves it. Although it is rather un-nerving to see an intelligent ‘Ash’… Definately add to your cart! Customer Review: These are brilliantly done Pokemon Adventures is probably the best vision of the concept that’s sponsored by Nintendo. For the record, I recommend buying these in the graphic novel format.
This is a great series. It’s a more mature story that isn’t exclusively aimed at kids like the cartoon or the other comic. There are elements in these stories that will appeal to all ages. Red and Blue, instead of being a couple of abrasive children, are more like rivals should be — with a healthy respect for one another. They work together, even help each other along at times when they know there’s more at stake than their own pride.
The story takes some turns that are far darker than anything the show would ever touch, and most of the characters from the show who appear here are, such as the Gym Leaders, are, instead of silly characitures of how people behave, real characters with a passion for what they do. Misty and Brock, incidentally, kick ass. Both Red and Blue are serious about what they do, and there’s a clear reason that they win as many fights as they do, not just the “Ash is the main character, so of course he wins” mentality the show has.
Even better, as the series progresses, there is real character growth. Over the course of the story, Red goes from being a Pokemon lover with a heart of gold to a brilliant tactician who can use his Pokemon’s abilities in ways nobody can imagine.
I recommend this for anyone with a passion for good storytelling, anyone who has played the game, and anybody who thinks the Pokemon concept is interesting, regardless of whether you like the cartoon. This is the best handling of the material you will find.
