Customer Review: Based more on the game than the anime…
In this issue of Pokemon Adventures, Red arrives in Pewter City, only to find a Pikachu who’s stirring up quite a bit of trouble. Luckily, by using his Bulbasaur, Red captures the Pikachu. Soonafter he runs into Gary, who challenges him to a contest to see who can defeat Brock, the Pewter City Gym Leader, first. And we also get to see the first appearance of everyone’s favorite(or hated, your choice) feisty red-head, Misty! Red comes to the rescue as Misty is being attacked by an out-of-control Gyarados, and soon they band together on their journey. The Pokemon Adventures manga is based heavily on the Pokemon RPG videogame, so there’s alot of similarities here. You should buy this if you’re a fan of the game, or Pokemon in general.

This book is great!red walks into pewter city and sees a wanted sign of Pikachu, who is messing up there town. So then Red decides to help and trys capturing the wanted Pikachu……. Then Gary comes and Challenges Ash the Challenge is Who will get the Boulder badge from Brock……. Then trys to help misty with her Gyardos… That’s all i’m going to write.

This is a good book! I like it when all the pokemon original and clones cry for Ash because he got in Mewtwo’s crossfire!

Customer Review: Manga-riffic!
It’s always good to see a differant take on the beginnings of the pokemon phenomenon, and this manga is no exection. It more closely follows the game rather than the anime, and somehow, this improves it. Although it is rather un-nerving to see an intelligent ‘Ash’… Definately add to your cart!
Customer Review: These are brilliantly done
Pokemon Adventures is probably the best vision of the concept that’s sponsored by Nintendo. For the record, I recommend buying these in the graphic novel format.

This is a great series. It’s a more mature story that isn’t exclusively aimed at kids like the cartoon or the other comic. There are elements in these stories that will appeal to all ages. Red and Blue, instead of being a couple of abrasive children, are more like rivals should be — with a healthy respect for one another. They work together, even help each other along at times when they know there’s more at stake than their own pride.

The story takes some turns that are far darker than anything the show would ever touch, and most of the characters from the show who appear here are, such as the Gym Leaders, are, instead of silly characitures of how people behave, real characters with a passion for what they do. Misty and Brock, incidentally, kick ass. Both Red and Blue are serious about what they do, and there’s a clear reason that they win as many fights as they do, not just the “Ash is the main character, so of course he wins” mentality the show has.

Even better, as the series progresses, there is real character growth. Over the course of the story, Red goes from being a Pokemon lover with a heart of gold to a brilliant tactician who can use his Pokemon’s abilities in ways nobody can imagine.

I recommend this for anyone with a passion for good storytelling, anyone who has played the game, and anybody who thinks the Pokemon concept is interesting, regardless of whether you like the cartoon. This is the best handling of the material you will find.

riddle me this- magmar is so cool our heros head to cinabar (GET IT) to win a volcano badge. blane the gym master also owns a hotel. volcanic panic makes magmar and charizard battle by olny being impresed by each other blanes jokes are realy funny . but blastoise is boring and so are worturtle . team rocket plans to steal blastoise and does but ecapes saved by squrtle and worturtle even jiggley puff is involved in this and jiggley puff is a real piccaso.

Surf’s Up, Pikachu! (Pok mon Junior Chapter Book) Pikachu and his surfing buddies take on the Humunga-dunga, a colossal wave that refuses to be conquered. Sounds like the perfect adventure story for young Pokemon fans!

The story concerns a surfer whose ambition is to ride a giant wave which appears only once every 20 years and to plant a flag on a small island to which the wave would bring him.
