Pokemon Red, Gotta Catch ‘em Them All, Atrapalos Ya, Edicion Roja, Spanish, Espanol, Game Boy Original, Gameboy Welcome to the world of Pok mon, one filled with wild Pok mon and the people who attempt to tame them. You are Ash Ketchum, a boy on a quest to become the best Pok mon trainer in the world. Professor Oak, the leading authority on Pok mon, has given you your choice of three tame Pok mon in exchange for your helping him catalog and document every Pok mon in the world.

But to catalog a Pok mon, you have to capture it, by first beating it up with one of your trained Pok mon, and then hitting it with an empty Pok Ball. As your tame Pok mon gain experience in battle, their abilities improve and they earn access to new attacks. Sometimes they even evolve into more advanced Pok mon.

Aside from capturing wild Pok mon and evolving your own, you can catalog new Pok mon–the only way to gather some Pok mon–by trading with another Pok mon player using either a link cable or the Game Boy Color’s infrared system. Pok mon gained through trades learn and evolve faster, and trading is the only way to capture all 151 Pok mon, since each Pok mon game (Pok mon Red, Pok mon Blue, andPok mon Yellow) has certain Pok mon missing. So if you own Red and want to have a complete set of Pok mon, you must find a friendly Blue or Yellow owner and arrange a trade.

Pok mon Red is packed with interesting characters, an ingenious story hook, intriguing strategy, and of course plenty of cute Pokemon, and it’s easy to see how it started the Pok mania that is sweeping the world. –Michael Fehlauer

Pros:

  • Gameplay and strategy that are fun for all ages

Pokemon - Thunder Shock (Vol. 5) Pokemon - Thunder Shock (Vol. 5) Pok mon Master-in-training Ash Ketchum experiences further ups and downs, with Misty teasing him and the practical Brock advising him. “Mystery at the Lighthouse” recalls Ray Bradbury’s short story “The Fog Horn.” The single, forlorn specimen of a huge seagoing Pok mon comes to a lonely lighthouse seeking companionship, but the villains of Team Rocket drive off the unique creature before “Pok mon scholar” Bill can study it. Moving on to Vermilion City, Ash wins a Thunder Badge in a match against the local champion, whose no-holds-barred tactics have sent more than a dozen Pok mon to the hospital. Ash and Pikachu prove that speed, agility, and friendship can overcome brute strength. At their evil boss’s bidding, Team Rocket lures a crowd of Trainers onto the St. Anne ocean liner as part of a plot to seize their Pok mon. Ash leads a counterattack that defeats the bad guys, but the episode ends on an unusually ominous note, with Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu trapped in the sinking ship. Even more ominous for parents is Bill’s statement that there may be no limit to the number of Pok mon beyond the known 151. –Charles Solomon
Customer Review: Shocking
Before Pokemon Advanced this was my favorite episode. It takes place when Ash and friends (Misty and Brock) finally reach a city. Misty wants to go to a bubblebath and Brock wants to see a navigator. But Ash zips off to the gym! Finally though his friends convivnce him that the pokemon center would be a better place to crash. Pikachu is all healed, eating an apple, seeming fine, but suddenly a pidgey and ratata are rushed into the emergency room. They had been seriously hurt by the gym leader’s amazing pokemon!
Now pikachu is afraid, but they tres out the battle anyway. Ash chooses pikachu to face….raichu?! Afraid, pikachu dashes behind Ash’s leg. But it is forced to battle anyway. Raichu merely absorbs pikachu’s shocks and creams in it two moves-thundershock and thunder punch, then a totally not-needed body slam. Poor pikachu didn’t even need the third attack; it was so hurt.
The only solution was to evolve pikachu into raichu, but the little yellow pokemon refused. It threw down the stone. There went their only hope….or was there another way?
Customer Review: The perfect combination of Funny and cool!
I’ve never seen the movie it’s self, but I saw it on Kids WB once and really liked it! Although Ash lost to Lt. surge at first later he figured out Lt. Surges Raichu never learned the evasive attacks(Agility and Double team)when it was still a Pikachu so Ash’s Pikachu kept Dodging Raichu so Raichu eventually ran out of attacks and Ash’s Pikachu quicky knocked it out!!! One of the funniest things about this episode was Team Rocket was constantly cheering Ash’s Pikachu on because they knew if it could beat it’s evolved form,Raichu it would be worth stealing(not that they ever could steal it)!

Pokemon - The Sisters of Cerulean City (Vol. 3) Pokemon - The Sisters of Cerulean City (Vol. 3) Ash Ketchum continues to work toward his goal of becoming a champion Pok mon trainer as he challenges a trio of synchronized swimmers in “Cerulean City”; A.J., a stern trainer, in “League”; and the conceited champion of a posh prep school in “Hard Knocks.” Assisted by Misty and his friend Brock, Ash also overcomes the inept villains of Team Rocket and learns lessons about modesty, honesty, and sportsmanship. Although Ash initially feels that A.J. drives his Pok mon too hard in “League,” he discovers how deeply he cares for them when Team Rocket tries to kidnap Sandshrew, his favorite. In “Hard Knocks,” Ash defends a smaller boy from bullying upper classmen, and shows the snobbish students that training Pok mon isn’t an academic exercise, but a way of life based on friendship and mutual affection. Viewers not caught up in the Pok mon craze may find the idea of fighting high-tech duels with these cute little animals incongruous. But millions of kids in America and Japan embraced it, and they’ve given the Pok mon a higher profile than such earlier product-characters as My Little Pony, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, and Herself the Elf. –Charles Solomon
Customer Review: I don’t like Pokemon as much anymore but…
I used to absoulutely love pokemon when I was eight(no not when it was a fad,I actually hated it then). On my ninth birthday,I had a fun sleepover with my friends and we watched this. It was neat, and the episode the vidio got its name from is my second favorite episode. I recomend this one over JigglyPuff Pop,witch is pretty boring. I wish I still liked pokemon that much…
Customer Review: Still good.
Yep, our “hero” Ash finally reaches Cerulean City, where he’ll fight the local master for his badge. And this time, he’s all alone. Misty left for no reason, and Brock had some “stuff” *cough* to do. Turns out the local master is 3 girls named Rose, Lily and Violet. And another shock. They’re Misty’s sisters. Gary has already been here and won a badge, and the pokemon are all exhausted, so they decided to just give Ash the badge. Misty doesn’t want any of that, though, and challenges Ash herself. After a while, the battle is interrupted by Jessie and James, who have come to steal all the pokemon in the gym. Pikachu stops them by jumping into their soaked machine and shocking it till it explodes. And, since Ash wuld’ve easily won if he had used Pikachu, Misty’s sisters give him the badge. Misty doesn’t really agree, though.
So, following the game, they’re on their way to Bill’s cabin, eh? Or maybe they just go directly to the next town? Nope, the writers didn’t want the show to end taht fast, so we get some feared filler episodes. Don’t worry, this is good filler. Enjoy it while it lasts, cause in a few seasons, you’ll hate filler with a passion. First off, Ash is informed about an unofficial gym nearby, where the savage pokemon master AJ lives. AJ doesn’t want to start his pokemon journey until he’s won 100 matches in a row, and is now up to 98. AJ is also one of the best trainers out there, and his Sandshrew easily defeat all of Ash’s pokemon. Ash is a bad loser, and claims AJ was cheating. And later, he critizeses his training methods. Look, Ash, this guy’s a lot better than you, so just shut up, okay? Jessie and James show up again and try to steal Pikachu, but accidentally steal Sandshrew instead. Sandshrew beat them up, and runs back. So, they go back to get Pikachu. AJ defeat their pokemon without any problem, and get his 100th win. Then he leaves for his journey.
Later, Ash still can’t mind his own business, and critizeses Gizelle, the leader of a student program on Pokemon Tech, a school where you can study pokemon. Pass the exam, and you can enter the pokemon league without badges. And training, obviously, so I doubt you’d get very far. Anyway, Gizelle has a pretty special training system, and to prove her greatness, she challenges Ash. And loses. That makes her realize that her system isn’t really that good, and that the school doesn’t really teach you much useful stuff. J&J show up, and get defeated when the entire school gang up on them, and Ash continues his journey.

So, my opinion, eh? 3 pretty solid episodes. As much as I hate filler, I have to say that these were actually good. I didn’t expect AJ to defeat Ash, but I’m glad he did. He was better, and whatever stupid plot device the riters would’ve come up with, I’m sure I wouldnt’ve liked it. Add in a couple’ve good battles, a gym leader episode, and some good plot, and you got a pretty decent pack. Not worth a 5 star, but still good.

Pokemon Origami, Volume 1: Origami Pokemon Origami, Volume 1: Origami Pokmon fans can bring their favorite creatures to life with this colorful origami kit. Preprinted paper and instructions direct readers in creating three-dimensional figures of Ash Ketchum, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Eevee, Zubat, and other favorite Pokmon, as well as readers’ own characters. The Pokmon phenomenon is based on the Nintendo Game Boy adventure, which sets players on a quest to collect all 150 Pokmon creatures - an eclectic assortment of animal, vegetable, mineral, and out-of-this- world characters.
Customer Review: Good introduction to origami
This book has pokemon characters printed on, usually two, with a slightly different look usually with the eyes. You tear out the paper, cut and fold it. The paper is not quite square the the picture is not exact. A lot adjusting to fit the colours is required. There is a lot of cutting involved but the folding is very simple. The final shape is very simple too and not easily recognisable if there is no picture of the pokemon on it. The picture can be just a face or full and need mounting on a flat surface for it to look good since generally it cannot stand. Recommended as an introduction to origami for children who likes pokemons.
Customer Review: Pokemon Origami
Pokemon Origami is great. Now I can instead of drawing pokemon I can create pokemon out of origami

Pokemon Holiday Special Video Gift Pack 1 Pokemon Holiday Special Video Gift Pack 1 The eager fan of Pokemon or those curious of the phenomenon will want to get their hands on this first video. This volume includes three TV episodes “Pok mon, I Choose You!,” “Pok mon Emergency!” and “Ash Catches a Pok mon,” this DVD is guaranteed to please anyone who’s caught up in the Pok mon phenomenon. In the Pok mon world, 10-year-olds acquire their Pok mon training license and begin their quest to catch, train, and fight these adorable creatures–all 151 of them! Our enthusiastic hero, Ash Ketchum, is determined and intensely eager to become the best Pok mon trainer in the world! Ash’s closest Pok mon is the lovable Pikachu, who helps Ash fight other Pok mons and accompanies him on his quest. In these three episodes Ash meets Misty, his future traveling companion and friend, and the two of them combat Team Rocket, who will always be their arch enemy. This video includes the full-length “Pok rap,” in which all 150 Pok mons are described. Followed by The Mystery of Mount Moon. –Samantha Allen Storey

Pok mons, the little high-tech toys, and the Nintendo game involving them, emerged as a pop-culture phenomenon in 1998: the TV show aired six times a week, a theatrical feature was released in 1999, and Pok mon Web sites popped up all over the Internet. These episodes of the TV series center on Ash Ketchum, an adolescent boy who aspires to become a champion Pok mon trainer. He sets out for his first tournament, accompanied by his sometimes friend, a girl named Misty, and his special pet Pok mon, Pikachu. Along the way, he defeats another boy, Samurai, in a duel and makes a valuable new friend when he challenges Brock, the local champion, while learning lessons about friendship, perseverance, and honorable play. On Moon Mountain, he discovers a fallen meteor with magical powers over the excessively cute Clefaries. Jessie and James, the Team Rocket, attempt to steal the Moon Stone, but are defeated by Ash, Misty, and Brock in a slapstick battle. Adults may have trouble keeping track of the different Pok mons without the help of a child, but the “Full-Length Pok rap” at the end of the disc lists them, an obvious attempt to stimulate the urge to collect all 150 (plus one rare collector’s Pok mon coveted by fans). –Charles Solomon

Pokemon Graphic Novel vol. 3: Electric Pikachu Boogaloo (Pokemon) (Pok mon Comic Series, 3) Pikkkaaaa! As further testament to the global domination of Pok mon, Electric Pikachu Boogaloo collects the contents of four Pok -comic books originally released in late ‘99, all based on episodes from the enormously successful TV series. “Boogaloo” follows 10-year-old Ash Ketchum and his first, best, and cutest Pok mon partner, Pikachu, through all sorts of adventures, from trying to track down a mysterious seed Pok mon guardian spirit atop the Venusaur Tree to investigating whether Clefairy really come from outer space. The action reaches its peak when Ash qualifies for the Pok mon League in “Days of Gloom and Glory” and then takes on his friend and rival Richie in the high-stakes Indigo Finals. The dastardly misfits of Team Rocket, of course, keep things interesting along the way. (The book comes with four perforated, pull-out pin-ups.) –Paul Hughes
Customer Review: Best Pokemon merchandise out here!!!
Although this US version is quite censored, I can recommend it to any Pokemon fan, but it is absolute must have for any Rocketshipper! It is quite Ash-bashing despite the title. And there are also the most beautiful pictures of Jessie and James! The art style is marvelous and Mr.Ono’s humour is great, too!!!
I like The Electric Pikachu Boogaloo the best from all 4 manga books by Toshihiro Ono. This series is one of my most favourite mangas (beside Cardcaptor Sakura and Gunsmith Cats).
Read it and you will see why! If you are manga fan and want quality, try this Pokemon manga series. It it not childish, I’m 20 and I enjoyed it very much!
Customer Review: this cover’s the best!!

You have gotta have it!
If you don’t you do not now what your missing out on!!

I rate it 10000 out of 10.
Customer Review: New Pokeworld To Explore!
I haven’t read this one yet, but since the Johto Journeys haven’t made it to VHS and/or DVD yet, I’ll give this book a whirl.

Heroic Ash Ketchum, Misty and Brock, plus Togepi and Princess Poliwag (from Stun Spore Syndrome in the Orange League Saga), and Mr. 25 himself, Pikachu boldly go where no trainers have gone before! I’ll write a follow up as soon as I get my hands on it.

Pokemon: I Choose You (Spanish) Pokemon: I Choose You (Spanish) Discover the amazing world of Pokemon! To become the best Pokemon trainer in the world, Ash Ketchum is determined to capture all 150 of these incredible creatures. And with the help of Pikachu, his very first Pokemon, Ash quickly learnes that becoming a Pokemon master is the challenge of a lifetime!

After a bumpy start, Ash and Pikachu work together as a team - just in time to foil Team Rocket’s Pokemon-stealing schemes. And once Misty joins up with our heroes - the excitement never ends! You gotta catch all the action as Ash and company take us on an incredible Pokemon adventure!
Customer Review: Pok fique!
To start off the series with a little twist, Ash oversleeps on the first day of his Pok mon journey, to find that all the Pok mon have been taken, except for Pikachu, who isn’t too happy with it’s new trainer. They get attacked by a flock of Spearow. Pikachu manages to hold them off, but is critically injured, so they flee to Viridian City with Misty in pursuit, as Ash “borrowed” her bike. Pikachu is treated at the Viridian City Pok mon Center and is about to take a nap in the recovery room when Team Rocket shows up, cuts the power and attacks. Luckily, the center’s alternative electricity is a bunch of Pikachu, who all thundershock Team Rocket. Ash’s Pikachu wakes up, and shocks them again, causing their Koffing to explode and Team Rocket to “Blast off again…” . Misty, who came into Viridian City a little while after Ash came, starts to follow him so he can repay her for her bike. “Our heroes” (the narrator’s words, not mine!) head into Viridian forest, where Ash catches a Caterpie, and later, a Pigeotto.

A great start to a great anime. And Pok mon is not a Digimon rip-off or vice versa, the goal in Pok mon is to become the world’s greatest Pok mon master, where the Digigoal is to save the Digiworld. Enough said, just buy the video already!

Customer Review: Getting better
As we remember from the last DVD, Ash and Misty are venturing through Viridian Forest.

Following the game, they should reach Pewter Town now, right.
Nah, not yet. Looks like we have to slow down a bit, or the show’ll be over in 30 episodes.

So, they’re still in Viridian Forest. Ash meets a pokemon trainer named Samurai (uh..), who want a fight after losing to Gary earlier. The fight turns out to be a bore-fest where Ash’s and Samurai’s Metapods harden a few dozen times. It ends with a bucnh of Beedrills kidnapping Metapod. Woo, finally rid of him. Now to get rid of Pikachu, and catch some good pokemon. Nah, Ash embarks on a rescue mission, but is attack by J&J who want Pikachu. They end up getting attacked by more Beedrills, while Metapod defend Ash. The experience evolves him into Butterfree, a pokemon even worse than Pikachu. Blah.
Well, Ash and Misty continue their journey, and reach Pewter City, where Ash decides to enter the Pokemon League. To enter, he has to travel between cities and towns, challenging the local pokemon master in a battle and win. This’ll give him a badge to brag about. Get 8 badges, and you can enter the league. Ash challenges the local master, Brock, but is easily beaten. An old man named Flint, who turns out to be Brocks father, helps Ash super-charge Pikachu making him win. Almost. Ash gets the chanse to cheat, but turns it down. Brock hands him the badge anyway, and joins him on the journey. On the way to the next town, Cerulean, Ash and co journey through Mount Moon, where they meet a scientist named Seymour, and stop Jessie and James from stealing the mysterious Moon Stone from the Clefairies, a very rare species of pokemon. The stone is supposed to evolve pokemon into otherwise unattainable forms, making it very useful for Team Rocket. Ash and co don’t succeed, however, and J&J get away with the stone. The Clefairies stop them with a bit help from Brock’s Onix, use the Moon Stone to evlve, and beat up the Rocket agents. Turns out the stone was a bit more powerful than they thought.

So, what do we have here? 3 very good episodes, each deling with a different pokemon species. The first one cover the Weedle/Kakuna/Beedrill family, then we have Brock’s pokemon, Geodude and Onix. And finally, Clefairy and Clefable.
Can’t really say much else, cept that these are among the best episodes at this point in the series, and I recommend this DVD to all fans.

Customer Review: I wish you can put a billion stars.
A friend gave me this book for my birthday. And I can safely say this was the best present I got out of everything. Pokemon fans and comic fans will like this. And it isn’t that childish. And this Toshihiro guy can draw. I haven’t read a good book like this in a long time. It ranks up there with the Harry Potter books.
Customer Review: awesome
I find the pokemon tv series childish and wasn’t sure If I’d like the manga but I saw the artwork was good so I said, Why not?
It turns out this book is not really like the tv series. Ash’s mom and prof. oak look totally different and ash finds pikachu in this manga. He also catches different pokemon and there lots of fun humor too. This book has great art! the pokemon look so life like! I really recomend this book!
