Pokemon Adventures, Volume 3: Starmie Surprise (Pok mon Adventures) Each volume of the best-selling Pokmon comic series features three of the 150 lovable Pokmon in stories that cannot be found in the popular television series. This installation shines a spotlight on Starmie. When the trainer journeys to Cerulean City he is surprised to see a familiar-looking Pokmon gym leader! Will he win the Cascade Badge? Customer Review: It’s Misty of Cerulean City! In this issue of Pokemon Adventures, Red and Misty travel through Mt. Moon, but on the way they run into Team Rocket, a strange organization who’s bent on capturing other people’s Pokemon. After that, Red and Misty arrive at Cerulean City, where Misty lives. Apparantly she lives in a huge mansion, and has a whole bunch of maids which Red falls instantly in love with. Unfortunately for him, he gets on Misty’s bad side and causes her to challenge him, unexpectedly, to a Gym Battle. Soonafter, Red ventures off further into the Pokemon world, and runs into a freakish looking half-Pokemon half-human that calls itself ‘Bill’. If you enjoyed the game, you should really get this issue of Pokemon Adventures, because you’ll probably enjoy this as well. Customer Review: MATO’s Magic. I LOVE this ENTIRE series. MORE than the series, MORE than the Manga, MORE than the game. The artwork was inspiring & the graphics get better & better each issue.

Pokemon Adventures, Volume 2: Wanted Pikachu (Pok mon Adventures) The most popular Pokmon character - Pikachu - was the subject of the first Pokmon comic miniseries. In this story, the human trainer journeys to Pewter City, where a Pokmon is wanted for vandalism. Can our hero catch (as well as make friends with) the electrical Pikachu? Customer Review: Based more on the game than the anime… In this issue of Pokemon Adventures, Red arrives in Pewter City, only to find a Pikachu who’s stirring up quite a bit of trouble. Luckily, by using his Bulbasaur, Red captures the Pikachu. Soonafter he runs into Gary, who challenges him to a contest to see who can defeat Brock, the Pewter City Gym Leader, first. And we also get to see the first appearance of everyone’s favorite(or hated, your choice) feisty red-head, Misty! Red comes to the rescue as Misty is being attacked by an out-of-control Gyarados, and soon they band together on their journey. The Pokemon Adventures manga is based heavily on the Pokemon RPG videogame, so there’s alot of similarities here. You should buy this if you’re a fan of the game, or Pokemon in general. Customer Review: Reader from America This book is great!red walks into pewter city and sees a wanted sign of Pikachu, who is messing up there town. So then Red decides to help and trys capturing the wanted Pikachu……. Then Gary comes and Challenges Ash the Challenge is Who will get the Boulder badge from Brock……. Then trys to help misty with her Gyardos… That’s all i’m going to write.

Pokemon - The Johto Journeys - Flying Ace (Vol. 43) What does a clumsy but well-meaning Blissey have to do with Jessie’s secret past? Then, Ash finally reaches town with the next Pokemon gym, Violet City, only to face Team Rocket and a pint-sized Pikachu thief. Plus, the Violet City Gym Leader uses his flying Pokemon to save Pikachu from the grips of team Rocket, but that won’t stop Ash from battling him to win the Zephyr Badge! Customer Review: The Best You’ll Find of the Pokemon TV Series Just another video about pocket monsters? Well, yes and no. The first episode of this volume, “Ignorance Is Blissey”, actually contains a story about one of the main characters of the series - Jessie - and I found this episode to be much more dramatic and entertaining than the usual Pokemon series material. It begins with Ash, Misty, and Brock arriving at Happytown in the middle of the night and looking for something to eat. At the Pokemon Center they are greeted by Blissey, the evolved form of Chansey, who turns out to be very friendly but very inept. The resulting cascade of cataclysms finds Ash so injured that he needed to be wrapped head to toe in bandages. Switch to the next plot, Jessie, James, and Meowth break into the same Pokemon center looking for a bite to eat and anything else they can get their hands on. What they find instead is Blissey, who turns out to be an old friend of Jessie’s. What follows next is a delightful little anime that tells the story of their friendship in the Pokemon Nurse School. Several times over the course of this TV series there have been flashbacks showing Jessie’s past before she joined the nefarious Team Rocket, but this time we see her live the events as she was before - a decent human being. Here Jessie is warm, pleasant, and sincere as she helps her friend (then Chansey) graduate from school even though she herself flunks out and leaves in a touching parting scene. Back to the present, Blissey willingly gives Team Rocket all of the food in the center’s storage pantry out of friendship, only to get caught on the security tape the next day. Watching from a distance, Jessie sees that her old friend is now in trouble and Team Rocket decides to help out by claiming responsibility for the theft and remove the guilt from Blissey. What happens next is probably the strangest Pokemon battle I have ever seen. Team Rocket puts up a false battle against Blissey, a real battle against Ash & Co. and Jessie fights turmoil within herself all at the same time; you have to see it to believe it. In the end, Blissey is exonerated, Team Rocket gets blasted off again, and Ash, Misty, and Brock finally get something to eat. I found this episode very interesting because it brings up several issues with the series. First, what happened to the character Jessie? What cruelty could change such a decent person into the nasty shrew she is now? Next, near the end of the movie Pokemon 2000 Team Rocket doesn’t just cooperate with the good guys, they actually sacrifice their own well being to help someone else. They do it again in this episode which, to me anyways, seriously ruins their credibility as the villians of this show, but in the next episode they are back at their dirty old tricks again. I find this lack of consistancy somewhat annoying. Last issue, certainly the Pokemon TV series was born of the desire to sell Nintendo game products, essentially a half-hour long commercial. However there have been some episodes like this one and the movie Pokemon 3 that clearly demonstrate a potential to evolve beyond the original purpose into a real anime series that has a life and spirit of its own. Sadly, I doubt this will ever happen as long as Nintendo and Game Freak retain control of this TV series. The second episode of this volume “A Bout with Sprout” is more like the standard Pokemon material. Ash, Misty, and Brock finally arrive at Violet City and start to look around for the gym. Before you know it a boy and a girl try to kidnap Pikachu, but surprise, it’s not Team Rocket this time! It’s Zack and Lizzie, two students at Earl’s Pokemon Academy, a place with more than a little silliness. Zack, unbent by Ash’s ownership of Pikachu, continues to persue the little guy into the woods, where Pikachu is seemingly caught in a Pokeball. At this point Ash and Zack are caught in one of Team Rocket’s pitfalls and Zack finds out he actually caught a bellsprout when tries to unleash a thundershock on Team Rocket. The real Pikachu arrives in time to give Team Rocket a good zorch and blast them out of the picture yet again. Ash and Zack continue on to meet the academy class at the Sprout Tower, an unusual building supported by a single large swaying beam. At the tower they are met with a Team Rocket encore - another attempt to catch Pikachu, but with the help of Zack and his new friend bellsprout, our heroes save the day and send Team Rocket on their way again. In the end Zack learns a good lesson - that you don’t need to be strong and powerful to be a hero. This episode has some pretty good laughs and silliness to go along with the good lesson at the end. In the third episode of this volume, “Fighting Flyer With Fire”, Ash finally makes it to the Violet City Gym. There he encounters two officials from the gym that insist on examining Pikachu. Only after they abscond with the little guy do our heroes recognize the officials as Team Rocket (although it is very obvious to the viewer - I kind of miss some of the really good disguises they used years ago). Very soon a new character shows up riding a hanglider and rescues Pikachu from Team Rocket and sends them on their way. Ash thanks him for his help and they become friends only to find out that this new guy is Faulkner the Gym leader Ash has come to battle. If you’re really into Pokemon battles this one is a very good demonstration of type and level mismatches, and some strategy for beating a stronger opponent. Faulkner seems friendly enough on the street, but in the arena he turns out to be a fierce competitor, and doesn’t give Ash any easy breaks. In the end Ash is forced to use his head to win, he doesn’t win by luck this time. Not a lot of laughs or silliness in this episode, but a great Pokemon battle. Customer Review: Flying Ace Another video featuring the pocket monsters and the trainer battling to the … yada yada yada. You know all that. So let’s get on with it! This video is a rare occurance, as all three episodes featured on this tape are highly recommended! The first, Ignorance is Blissey, starts off with Ash and Co finding a Pokemon Center with a happy Blissey wanting to make them as happy as possible, but everything it does, ends up with Ash getting hurt until he is completely wrapped in bandages. But the real story begins when Team Rocket sneaks in during the night to find some chow and Jessie runs into Blissey, who turns out to be a friend of hers! Jessie tells James and Meowth how they both attended nursing school when Blissey was a Chansey, but Jessie was flunked out. Blissey, knowing how hungry Team Rocket is, gives them all the food in the center, but how will Ash react when there’s nothing for breakfast? Next, in A Bout With Sprout, the group stops by Earl’s Pokemon Academy (and Dance School) to show the kids their Pokemon, but one little brat is determined to steal Pikachu! But even if Ash can stop the little boy, he’d better prepare for double trouble as Team Rocket is out to capture Pikachu too! Finally, in Fighting Flyer With Fire, we FINALLY get to see a Johto Gym Battle! Gee, and it only took 15 episodes to get here too! But Pikachu should have no problem against Flying type Pokemon…. right?

Pokemon - Fashion Victims (Vol. 9) Cross-dressing, hypnosis, and cutthroat practices in the fashion industry all make their appearances in this installment of the phenomenally successful Japanese cartoon series. In “Pok mon Scent-Station,” Ash dresses as “Ashley” to get into a local gym after he is banned for insulting the managers’ perfume line. His ruse is discovered and he challenges the teacher to a Pok mon duel, pitting his baby-voiced Pikachu against her sour-smelling creature. Children are disappearing and Pok mon are losing their energy in “Hypno’s Naptime,” until Ash, Misty, and Brock solve the mystery. In “Pok mon Fashion Flash,” the final episode of this 75-minute tape culled from the rudimentally animated television series, Brock attempts to cozy up to a beautiful Pok mon breeder whose business is threatened by Pok mon fashion makeovers. Through it all, Team Rocket is causing the usual mayhem: starting fires, stealing business secrets, and thwarting all that is noble and good. Defending order are the three kids, Pikachu, and various other Pok mon, including Gloom, Psyduck, and Hypno. Followed by Fighting Tournament. –Kimberly Heinrichs Customer Review: This should be considered a comedy!!!! OMG when I first saw this vid w/ my little bro we almost wet our pants! o.0 Love, love, LOVE Team Rocket (especially James!!! :D). They’re too funny!!!! In “Pokemon Scent-sation!” Ash and the gang come across a perfume store in Celadon City later to find out by Ash getting kicked out that Erica, the gym leader of the town, is the shop’s owner! Ash goes to TR for help, and they dress him up as a girl!!! XD XD XD I loved that it made Ash look like a freak (sorry Ash fans out there, I’m a TR fan!). He eventually gets to battle the leader, but Ash gets the badge after saving the gym and Erica’s Gloom from a fire. In “Hypno’s Naptime” kids are disappearing from a nearby city and no one knows where they’re going. Ash and friends investigate and find that a club has a Hypno and that they’re using it to get to sleep at night. It affects the children also by making them think they’re pokemon. TR makes one of their most hilarious entrances yet, by flying in hang gliders on top of the skyscraper…well, you’ll see!!! In “Pokemon Fashion Flash”, Ash and the gang are looking for a famous breeder when they come across TR’s new beauty parlor (to be honest, I’d actually would’ve gone in there! I <3 individualistic fashion!) But anyway, we have a battle of style in this episode between Suzie the famous breeder and the kids vs. Team Rocket. (Personally, I think TR should have won.) James happens to cross-dress again (OMG James noooo don't do it! o.0) but Jessie does it also. One heck of a gut-bustin' episode! Overall, this vid is awesome!!! My fav parts are w/ TR (what else is new?! XD) but this is one funny collection of episodes!!! BTW-The “Knock ‘em dead” thing in Pokemon Fashion Flash? I like that, I like that! XD Customer Review: Intresting…… This is not in my case a very good video. It is somewhat boring. I hope the other pokemon installments are much better than this.

Pokemon - Thunder Shock (Vol. 5) Pok mon Master-in-training Ash Ketchum experiences further ups and downs, with Misty teasing him and the practical Brock advising him. “Mystery at the Lighthouse” recalls Ray Bradbury’s short story “The Fog Horn.” The single, forlorn specimen of a huge seagoing Pok mon comes to a lonely lighthouse seeking companionship, but the villains of Team Rocket drive off the unique creature before “Pok mon scholar” Bill can study it. Moving on to Vermilion City, Ash wins a Thunder Badge in a match against the local champion, whose no-holds-barred tactics have sent more than a dozen Pok mon to the hospital. Ash and Pikachu prove that speed, agility, and friendship can overcome brute strength. At their evil boss’s bidding, Team Rocket lures a crowd of Trainers onto the St. Anne ocean liner as part of a plot to seize their Pok mon. Ash leads a counterattack that defeats the bad guys, but the episode ends on an unusually ominous note, with Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu trapped in the sinking ship. Even more ominous for parents is Bill’s statement that there may be no limit to the number of Pok mon beyond the known 151. –Charles Solomon Customer Review: Shocking Before Pokemon Advanced this was my favorite episode. It takes place when Ash and friends (Misty and Brock) finally reach a city. Misty wants to go to a bubblebath and Brock wants to see a navigator. But Ash zips off to the gym! Finally though his friends convivnce him that the pokemon center would be a better place to crash. Pikachu is all healed, eating an apple, seeming fine, but suddenly a pidgey and ratata are rushed into the emergency room. They had been seriously hurt by the gym leader’s amazing pokemon! Now pikachu is afraid, but they tres out the battle anyway. Ash chooses pikachu to face….raichu?! Afraid, pikachu dashes behind Ash’s leg. But it is forced to battle anyway. Raichu merely absorbs pikachu’s shocks and creams in it two moves-thundershock and thunder punch, then a totally not-needed body slam. Poor pikachu didn’t even need the third attack; it was so hurt. The only solution was to evolve pikachu into raichu, but the little yellow pokemon refused. It threw down the stone. There went their only hope….or was there another way? Customer Review: The perfect combination of Funny and cool! I’ve never seen the movie it’s self, but I saw it on Kids WB once and really liked it! Although Ash lost to Lt. surge at first later he figured out Lt. Surges Raichu never learned the evasive attacks(Agility and Double team)when it was still a Pikachu so Ash’s Pikachu kept Dodging Raichu so Raichu eventually ran out of attacks and Ash’s Pikachu quicky knocked it out!!! One of the funniest things about this episode was Team Rocket was constantly cheering Ash’s Pikachu on because they knew if it could beat it’s evolved form,Raichu it would be worth stealing(not that they ever could steal it)!

Pokemon Johto League Champions, Volume 1 Customer Review: This DVD is cheaper, & has 7 episodes instead of the usual 3 BUY THIS!
It includes a Gym Battle, Ash finally catching the bug menace Beedrill, Team Rocket showing their talents for radio shows, how to defeat a Miltank’s Rollout - this is useful as in the game Rollout often takes down all of your Pokemon - and much more!
Buy this with the DVDs Flying Ace and Buggy Boogie for a real Gym Leader battle bonanza! Customer Review: What is going on? Ok, I know Pokemon is this big craze, even thought it has calmed down, but what are they doing? I mean, first off, they are jumping the DVD’s around like crazy with their releases, and now, they are making it better! I mean, I never wanted to spend 25 plus odd dollars on one DVD that only had three episodes, but now they are putting 7 on an episode? The orange league season has 12/13 episodes per DVD. Will they be doing this for all the old episodes (going back to #1, putting more then THREE EPSIODES PER DVD!!!…) If anyone knows this respond back…but don’t go out buying the old DVD’s…save yourself some sanity! (But buy these ones of cource, cuz Orange Islands is basically the best season…although they took away my Brock )

Pokemon - The Johto Journeys - Buggy Boogie (Vol. 48) Ash finally battles Azalea Town’s gym leader Bugsy and his bug Pokemon for a Hive Badge! Can Cyndaquil light its flame in time to help Ash win? And, lost in the Ilex Forest, Ash comes across a Farfetch’d trainer who needs a lot of training himself before he can help Ash fight off Team Rocket! Plus, in the seaside town of Palmpona, Ash takes a Pokemon swap meet by storm! But is there any market for a young trainer’s Wobbuffet? Customer Review: Britain is isolated from new Pokemon stuff… So I was overjoyed to be able to get Johto videos. Johto episodes are only on once a week. At seven in the morning on Sunday, and by the time you look round the episode’s finished and you have to wait another week.
I like battles most, so I choose videos with Gym battles in them, like this one and Flying Ace video. With the books about them, and screenshots from the episode, it makes them impossible to miss! I’ll certainly wait two weeks for this chance.
I hope I’ll enjoy it. Reviews sound good, too. Customer Review: The king of Kids’ WB! Watch out for killer bees! Even though Nintendo Power will no longer sell the Pokemon comics any more, I’m going to love this volume just like you told me. They contain the following:
Gettin’ the Bugs Out: Featuring a battle with the Azalea Town Gym Leader, Bugsy. And we all know who really hates bug-type Pokemon. By the way, back in the G/S versions of the game, Bugsy used Metapod, Kakuna, and Scyther did he?
A Farfetch’d Tale: Featuring an old Pokemon called Farfetch’d. A little boy has lost his Farfetch’d and Team Rocket is trying to catch it so they can sell the poor thing for money to buy food. Now who would play such a dirty trick in making money?
Tricks of the Trade: Featuring a strange new Pokemon called Wobbuffet from, er, Pokemon Gold and Silver. There’s this big trading thing going on and there is a boy who wants to trade away his Wobbuffet. But the way, Jessie accidentally traded Lickitung for Wobbuffet. What a goofball.
Now, thank you all once again on your cooperation on what to rank, and good luck to all you Pokemon trainers out there. For Volume 11 and Volume 12, I will be seeing you all in January 2002. But be careful with those thieves who try to steal items from you.

Pokemon - The Final Badge (Vol. 20) A trio of action adventures from the popular Pok mon TV series finds our indomitable heroes Ash, Misty, and Brock persevering in their quest to rid the world of evil. In the first episode, “Clefairy Tales,” Ash is on his way to Viridian City to compete for his eighth, and final, badge when he finds himself witness to a rash of alien abductions–or are they? Worse yet, Pikachu has been kidnapped for use in an enemy space launch. Can Ash’s Bulbasaur save the day? Undoubtedly yes, and just in time for Ash to begin his Earth Badge competition in “The Battle of the Badge.” Does Ash really have what it takes to join the Pok mon League? It’s showtime in Viridian City’s gym against the fearsome gym leader and his “ultimate Pok mon.” Let’s hope Ash doesn’t quit when Team Rocket attempts to subdue him once and for all, especially since Ash and cohorts are due to visit Pok mon Circus. In the last episode, “It’s Mr. Mime Time,” a supremely fierce Pok mon gives Ash, Misty, and Brock a three-ring performance they’ll never forget. Though there’s nothing profound here, the formula is pure Pok mon, with enough mischief and general tomfoolery to please fans ages 4 to 10. Followed by The Po-ke Corral. –Lynn Gibson Customer Review: GIOVANNI REVEALED!!! After months and months of waiting, we finally get to see the face of Giovanni, the mysterious evil leader of Team Rocket! Up until the episode of the Viridian Gym, he had always hid his face in the shadows and used one of those voice-changers to disguise himself. This is the first time we ever see his whole face and hear his real voice. Even though he has a pretty small role overall in the anime, he is one of the coolest characters of all just because he is so mysterious. And then of course there’s the appearance of Mewtwo, but come on: you just have to admire that Giovanni for being the only human who was ever able to control Mewtwo. Customer Review: Final Badge+Mewtwo Kicking Gary’s Butt=Awsome Episode I had to get this movie! It’s so cool! In the first episode of this video, Clafairys have built a space ship and they plan to take Pikachu with them! The part I like the most is when Jigglypuff and the Clafairy have a slapping contest because the Clafairy took Jigglypuff’s marker/microphone. In Battle of the Final Badge, we get to see Mewtwo kick Gary’s butt with no effort! Of course, Mewtwo is in its armor and looks so cool! Giovanni leaves Jessie and James in charge because he has to go to an emergency accident. When Ash battles them he soon finds out that the platforms are rigged and when his Pokemon get hurt, he feel their pain too! The next episode shows a lazy Mr. Mime that will not obey the trainer. Can Ash and Co. get the Mr. Mime to perform again? These are my favorite episodes in the entire seires! The Clafairy one is so funny!
