Pokemon Johto League Champions, Volume 1 Pokemon Johto League Champions, Volume 1 Customer Review: This DVD is cheaper, & has 7 episodes instead of the usual 3
BUY THIS!

It includes a Gym Battle, Ash finally catching the bug menace Beedrill, Team Rocket showing their talents for radio shows, how to defeat a Miltank’s Rollout - this is useful as in the game Rollout often takes down all of your Pokemon - and much more!

Buy this with the DVDs Flying Ace and Buggy Boogie for a real Gym Leader battle bonanza!
Customer Review: What is going on?
Ok, I know Pokemon is this big craze, even thought it has calmed down, but what are they doing? I mean, first off, they are jumping the DVD’s around like crazy with their releases, and now, they are making it better! I mean, I never wanted to spend 25 plus odd dollars on one DVD that only had three episodes, but now they are putting 7 on an episode? The orange league season has 12/13 episodes per DVD. Will they be doing this for all the old episodes (going back to #1, putting more then THREE EPSIODES PER DVD!!!…) If anyone knows this respond back…but don’t go out buying the old DVD’s…save yourself some sanity! (But buy these ones of cource, cuz Orange Islands is basically the best season…although they took away my Brock :( )

Pokemon - Johto League Champions - Crash of The Dairy (Vol. 56) Our heroes have finally reached the next stop on the road to the Johto League Championship! Will Ash win his next Johto League badge? Next stop a Pokemon beauty contest if our Pokemon heroes can retrieve their Pokemon back from Team Rocket! Featuring episodes: A Goldenrod Opportunity, A Dairy Tale Ending, Beauty and the Breeder
Customer Review: Pokemon - Johto League Champions - Crash of The Dairy
This Pokemon VHS is the only Pokemon VHS that is not done Pioneer. This is a very good Pokemon VHS in episodes contents. It is very high voltage VHS though.
Customer Review: Why???
The High Voltage Series continues with this new entry, “Crash of the Dairy”. The three episodes featured are “A Goldenrod Opportunity”, where Ash faces Whitney, the Goldenrod Gym Leader in a tough match, “A Dairy Tale Ending” where after his defeat, Ash challenges Whitney to a rematch, and “Beauty and the Breeder”, with Brock reuniting with Susie, the trainer who gave him Vulpix.
While these are good episodes and all, I have to ask… WHY? These episodes have already been released on DVD (See Road to the Johto League Champion and Journey to the Johto League Champion DVDs) so it just seems like a huge waste to release these three episodes on DVD, when you can get the same on the other two DVDs, plus 11 more.
This is the first Pokemon DVD that is not distributed by Pioneer, so it remains to be seen how the quality will hold up against previous releases.

Pokemon - Johto League Champions - Learning to be the Best (Vol. 57) Pokemon - Johto League Champions - Learning to be the Best (Vol. 57) Our heroes continue on their journey to the Johto League Champions. This action-packed title features 3 episodes: The Stolen Stones: Team Rocket manages to catch Pikachu. Will Ash be able to get Pikachu back with the help of Arcanin? Ariados, Amigos: Our heroes join the trainer of Fuschia City to learn the special Pokemon Jujitsu. The Apple Corp: Pikachu joins hands with Pichu to save the day from Team Rocket!
Customer Review: Another three Johto League fillers
I do not own this video but I have seen all the episodes and, to be honest, they’re not that great.

1. We start off with The Stolen Stones which isn’t a bad filler, probably the best on the video. Ash and co. meet up with a brother and sister who run an Archanine delivery service. Team Rocket steal some evolution stones from them and it’s up to Ash and friends to get them back. This one is quite memorable for Team Rocket’s antics. They get quite a bit of screentime.

2. Next up is Ariados Amigos, the worst on the video in my opinion. Our heroes meet up with Aya from Fushia City gym again and she teaches them about Pok mon jujitsu. Yawn.

3. Finally, a cutesy episode - Apple Corp - ends the video. Ash and friends visit an orchard were Pichu are stealing apples. If you are a Pikachu or Pichu fan you will probably enjoy it. I don’t mind it too much.

Overall, not a great offering. I’d wait for a video with more gym episodes. Filler episodes (which these three are) never affect the storyline so you aren’t missing anything at all.

Pokemon - Johto League Champions - Big Air (Vol. 58) Pokemon - Johto League Champions - Big Air (Vol. 58) Our heroes continue on the road to the Johto League Championship! Features 3 more action packed episodes.
Customer Review: Still got it
Pokemon has still got it. Digimon beware! Pokemon still has the legue.
Customer Review: ENOUGH!
Pokemon’s dead. It’s pathetic. It used to be the height of pop-culture, it was everywhere. Didn’t they get enough money from back then, or do they need to keep milking it from what little people still like it? Keep it in Japan.

Customer Review: Cool!!!
If I evened the episodes out right, this DVD should have 11 episodes on it! They are…..

-Turning over a new Bayleef: Ash gets mad at Bayleef, and tells her to go away, so Bayleef runs away. Then Ash misses Bayleef, but Bayleef has found a new trainer. Who will she go with?

-Doin what comes Natu-rally: Ash & co. meet a boy and his Natu who predict the future.

-The Big Balloon Blowup: Ash & co. enter a balloon contest. But when TR comes, it means trouble!

-The screen actors guilt: Ash gets a Smoochum from a movie actor who doesnt think that a Smoochum really fits him.

-Right on, Rhydon: Ash & Co. Meet a girl who is trying to catch a surfing Rhydon so she can drill a tunnel to Olivine City.

-The Kecleon Caper: Ash & Co. see a blimp with 2 sick Kecleon on board. This means brock & Pineco to the rescue!

-The Joy of water Pokemon: The gang meets a Nurse Joy who hates water Pokemon.

-Got Miltank: The gang arrives at a miltank ranch and meet lots of Miltank.

-Fight for the light: Ash arrives at Olivine Gym and finds out that the leader is healing a sick Ampharos.

-Machoke, Machoke Man: Ash arrives at the next gym and fights a fighting Pokemon Leader and his machoke.

Out of all these episodes, Right on, Rhydon and Machoke, Machoke Man are the best ones. Johto League Champions was a good season, but now its time to watch Master Quest!

Pokemon - Johto League Champions - Fire and Ice (Vol. 54) Pokemon - Johto League Champions - Fire and Ice (Vol. 54) Customer Review: Don’t buy this video
The episodes on this video come from Pokemon:Johto League Champions-Vol 4 and Pokemon:Johto League Champions-Vol 5. If you’re trying to get a complete set (in order), buy volumes 4 and 5 instead.
Customer Review: Two part gym battle and a cold turkey
This is a video from Pioneer’s upcoming “High Voltage Collection” which only highlights certain episodes from the series, instead of following the storyline of the show.
First up is Episode 424 - The Tower Inferno, Ash and company arrive in Ecruteak City to challenge the gym leader, but they stumble across a tower filled with ghosts instead. Next is Episode 425 - From Ghost to Ghost; Ash finally challenges Morty the gym leader, but are Morty’s ghost Pokemon too much for Ash? Finally, in 432 - Freeze Frame, Ash and pals meet up with an old friend in search for the legendary Articuno (which Ash doesn’t seem to remember seeing in Pokemon The Movie 2000)!
The first two episodes are excellent and are actually continuous with each other, unlike the previous installment of the “High Voltage Collection”. But the decision to include “Freeze Frame” is beyond me. Not only is it not a very good or particuarly action packed episode, but it is also the last part of a three episode story arc. Todd just appears out of nowhere and there is little explaination on why they’re tracking Articuno.
The episodes are still virtually the same as they were when shown on Kids WB, including the awkward third commercial break inserted into the show towards the ending. Also, the intro and end credits play at the beginning and end of each episode. Overall, two out of three ain’t bad, but hopefully Pioneer is planning on releasing DVD box season sets of the series, because these “Best Of” series is a real slap in the face to loyal Pokemon fans.
Pros: No intrusive Kids WB! logo… Great episodes. Slipsleeve box, not the childish clamshell the Johto Journeys series had.
Cons: Third commercial break still included, intro and credits tacked onto every episode.

Pokemon - Johto League Champions - The Quest for the Hidden Temple (Vol. 55) Pokemon - Johto League Champions - The Quest for the Hidden Temple (Vol. 55) Customer Review: WARNING: Episodes are out of order.
The episodes from “Hidden Temple” come from Pokemon:Johto League Champions-Vol 6 and Pokemon:Johto League Champions-Vol 7.

Buy these two volumes instead, and you’ll get much more for your money — More episodes, and they are in order.
Customer Review: Three More…
The third entry in the “High Voltage Collection”, which collects the more action oriented episode of Pokemon onto one VHS. This video contains the three following episodes…

Episode 416 - Wobba-Palooza - Ash and company happen upon a village that are just wild about Wobbuffet, and they are shocked when the villagers welcome Team Rocket with open arms! It turns out Jessie’s Wobbuffet IS good for something! Team Rocket plans to rob the village, but when a gang of Wobbuffet haters comes to wreck the annual Wobba-Palooza, Team Rocket and Ash team up to send them packing!
Episode 423 - Houndoom’s Special Delivery - Cute little Togepi gets separated from Misty and lost in the woods. Luckily, a passing Houndoom finds Togepi and cares for it. Will Misty and Togepi ever see each other again? And will Togepi drive Houndoom crazy?
Episode 439 - Control Freak - Ash and company help an archeologist find a hidden temple, which holds an ancient mask that is said to be able to control Pokemon! But Team Rocket is after the mask as well! What will happen if Team Rocket is able to control all the Pokemon in the world?

“Wobba-Palooza” may just be the best episode on this VHS, simply because of all the wackyness Wobbuffet provides, while “Control Freak” has a good story, though the animation is a bit stiff. “Special Delivery”, though cute, is rather boring.
Pioneer has begun releasing special edition DVDs of the Johto League Champions series, each holding seven episode, so you may want to hold off on this volume since it will eventually be available on DVD. But if you just need a dose of Pokemon action, or if you’re just a Wobbuffet fan, this VHS is great.
